The Importance of Images
Did you know that the addictive nature of web browsing can leave you with an attention span of nine seconds - the same as a goldfish?
Did you also know that a website user's habit is fairly similar to a customer visiting a shop? Like a shopper, your visitor has arrived at your site with a specific goal in mind.
They will glance at your home page, scan some text, then possibly click on the first link that catches their eye. However, should they fail to find what they're looking for they'll push off to another website; their visit having lasted even less time than our kissing goldfish on this page.
Making your website look great and carry engaging content should be at the top of your list (and of course mine) when it comes to creating or re-designing it. In fact, the latest keyword is "website stickiness". If a website has stickiness, it will keep your attention glued to that site rather than let you click on another one.
So while it's important to keep in mind the importance of quality (and regularly updated) content, the look and feel of your website will go a long way in making your site nicely sticky and keep users (and goldfish) coming back.
